2009 Orange Vs. Black “Bean” Series

The Missouri Longhorns kicked off the 2009 season with an inter-club “Bean” series, mixing 10U and 11U players to form Team Orange vs. Team Black.  The winner of the 3 game series was awarded food off the grill; while they got to watch the other team eat a bowl of beans.  Game 1 took place Friday night, and while it was bitterly cold for the spectators, the players seemed unaffected as they hit the field.  After a close game, Team Orange came away victorious with a 10-9 upset against Team Black.  Game 2 started the following afternoon with the sun shining bright and a fantastic day for baseball.  With another close game, Team Orange was able to pull off the win after heading into the bottom of the last inning, tied with Team Black.  The final score was 6-5.  However, Team Black was not about to give up.  They fought back with determination and pride and in Game 3, they earned the respect they deserved with a sound victory of 8-5.  The final results: Team Orange 2, Team Black 1.  The 3-game series was followed by a picnic with wonderful food, laughs and fun!  Thanks boys, for a great weekend….
